Project no.4 - IN5590

Making of a CNC part

To do

  1. Make a simple CAD part in F360
  2. Set up and design milling paths in F360 "Manufacture" - one side is enough
  3. Make a "Manufacture" simulation with the stock visible

Submission of work - upload page. Submission requirements

  1. A JPG picture of the CAD part or a JPG photo of the physical part (optional, if the part was made)
  2. An animated GIF of a stock simulation of one or several milling paths in F360 "Manufacture" (one side is enough). Screen to gif can be used, EZgif can be used for GIF optimization

Available tools: (can be found in Tool-library, Samples, Metric Aluminum)

  1. Flat: 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, 6mm
  2. Ball: 2mm, 3mm, 6mm
  3. Graveringsvertøy (chamfer mill) 30°

Ideas:

  1. A robot part - for example a link
  2. A part of your main project
  3. A "te-lys holder" with your name on
  4. An "øllbrike" with your name on
  5. A "dørskilt"
  6. . . .

Materials:

  1. Aluminum
  2. Brass
  3. Plastic
    1. Acetal - medium to high strength
    2. PVC - medium to low strength (non-expensive)
    3. PEEK - very high strength and temperature resistant (expensive)
    4. Laminated plastic - medium strength - wood like appearance
  4. Hardwood - bring your own stock (must be relatively small, we don't want to much dust)
  5. Steel, copper, titanium - only small parts can be made, you may have to bring your own stock (can be bought on Ebay)

Tips:

  1. It may take a very long time to manufacture a complex part where it is needed to mill from many sides
  2. The easiest solution is a part with a flat backside where we only need to mill from the top side
  3. Remember that your part can be combined with casted silicone and other items
